England’s greatest ever win?
BBC News – Sep 3, 2001
I think England have had good players over the years but the tactics have been poor. The English management in this country has been and still is appalling. Let’s hope Sven is around in 2006

Richard,
England

I don’t know about the best performance ever but it was certainly the best post-war performance. We beat them 5-1, on their park, with their ball. At last those who weren’t around in 1966 have a win over Germany to talk about for the next 40 years. Joss,
England

Ireland’s result was much better considering that England couldn’t beat Holland. Andrew Bryce,
Ireland

Not the greatest, but definitely the most enjoyable… However, let’s not get carried away by the tabloid frenzy which will no doubt follow. Win the World Cup? How about overcoming France, Italy, Brazil, Sweden and Portugal before we could even think about that!

Kev Rothery,
England

At last England have a team and not ten other players supporting one star. The great Sir Alf always said that it was a team that won the world cup in 1966 not a set of individuals. Now I’m looking forward to Tokyo. Glyn Puddefoot,
Botswana

What a game, being a Man Utd fan it hurts me to say this but that was a victory made in Liverpool. That was by far Owen’s best ever performance and Steven Gerrard was just awesome, he is the right footed Rivaldo. Get ready because the world cup is coming home!

Liam,
England

I’m disappointed with the result – it should have been more! That was the best England performance I’ve ever seen.

Today In Sport: There is a bright side to the Wembley fiasco . . ….

It is that we can all stop thinking about building a pseudo-city in a part of London that was not designed to house a National Stadium. An Ikea warehouse, maybe, but not an arena to which supporters of Leeds United or Liverpool can get without taking a week off work. From this morning the Football Association should be studying a map of England and not London’s A-Z… Wembley was doomed from that moment. Once the 2006 bid was lost, the FA and the Government should have called time-out on the madness that was sweeping the `venue of legends’ towards an undignified end. The FA now say that they “cannot act as sole sponsor of the scheme”. Tony Blair says the Government “cannot step in as a banker of the last resort”.

Martin Davies on Africa’s draw
BBC News – Aug 31, 2001
g here in South Africa teams would prefer a local knock out cup rather than the Champions league place. Msomi,
South Africa
Caf’s Mustapha Fahmy says Caf is determined this will not happen and says the Cup of Nations will continue to be played every two years. However, as a concession to Fifa’s unified calendar, from 2006 Caf is going to use the Cup of Nations finals to determine who qualifies for the World Cup later that year. Martin,
You are a good soccer analyst. What do you think about the standard of soccer in Zambia and are there chances of us lifting the ACN?

G Chitu,
Zambian (USA)
I think that Kalusha Bwalya’s reaction to the draw said it all. He believes it will be very tough for Zambia to make if beyond the group stage. Even before Kalusha hung up his boots the once mighty Zambia were struggling and the fact that qualification was only decided in the final game for Zambia suggests it will not be easy for them here in Mali.

South America shake-up
BBC News – Sep 3, 2001
The first, and quite possibly the last. South America’s current World Cup qualifying format – one big group where
everyone plays everyone else home and away – would seem to have its days
numbered. Eugenio Figueredo, vice-president of the South American
Federation, recently said that a change of system is likely for 2006. Either there will be a return to the previous arrangement where the teams
were divided into two or three groups (and Argentina and Brazil were always
kept apart)… The first, and quite possibly the last. South America’s current World Cup qualifying format – one big group where

Young guns can shoot for glory
Telegraph.co.uk – Sep 6, 2001
Thank goodness the latter was not entrusted to an unholy alliance of Ken Bates and Chris Smith. But as Eriksson proceeds with his fine work on the facade of English football, the imperfections lurking behind, nagging away at the notion – to which I have long subscribed – that no country is better placed to take over from France at the game’s summit, were also evident in Athens. For the Under-21s to.

League tenders under review
Namibian – Aug 31, 2001
The Namibian Premier League, which is due to kick off on September 8, has been run by an interim committee up to now, but it will be replaced by the successful tendering company once the Board of Governors makes its decision. According to sources close to the process, two high-level South Africans have tendered for the job. They are Neil de Beer, whose company, Namibian Sport Promotions, earlier this year took over the affairs of the Namibian Rugby Union; and the brother of Danny Jordaan, the South African Football Association’s chief executive officer, who led South Africa’s unsuccessful bid for the 2006 soccer World Cup. Member of the interim committee, Mario Carreira, said the delay in announcing the successful tender came about because the deadline was extended to give bidders a chance to finalise their tenders, since some were incomplete. The final tenders were only received last Friday. Carreira said several "capable people," had tendered for the job and dismissed xenophobic remarks made in soccer circles against the foreign bidders. "If they can do a professional job, with no favouritism and corruption and ensure that the crowds fill the stadiums, then we will have succeeded in our task," he said.

Wow am so disgusted with the idea of 12 year old kids having sex. I agree with the prevention but, where are the parents and teachers that should be teaching them about sex? About the dangers, emotions and consequences of something that should be an adult act? I feel for this generation of kids who are going to be so messed up by giving this away before they even understand what it is about. An entire generation of parentless kids, so sad. I would rather they not do it at all but, if they do I hope they get smart about protection and we don end up raising all of their pregnancies. So sad that so many woman are trying Wholesale Jerseys to conceive and these kids that don even know what sex is about are popping out kids like crazy.
