Does Africa deserve more places?
BBC News – May 8, 2003
Europe, South America, North America and Asia stand to get extra places under the proposed arrangement. But Africa, which had five places in the 32-team format, will not be making any new gains. After Senegal’s impressive quarter-final showing at the 2002 World Cup, does Africa deserve a bigger presence at the mundial?

Or does the inability of more than one African team to reach the second round makes Africa’s case a hard one to plead?

Email your responses, using the form on the right. I think the 32-team format is good enough… Europe already has too many places and Africa has not done enough to justify an extra place. Korea’s performance at the last World Cup was helped by their status as hosts as well as some questionable officiating. Willz Odipo, Kenya Does Africa deserve one more slot? Definately! Take West Africa for instance, which European nation will like to play Nigeria, Cameroon, Senegal, Guinea, in a tournament? Tony Ottah, United States I think that an extra place for Africa could be good for the competition, because with only five places there are good teams that stay out of the World Cup, such as Ivory coast, Ghana and Zambia Candido Sozinho, Maputo – Mozambique
Why 36 countries in the first place? 32 is even too much. The lesser the number, the better for the competition, as it makes it more competitive and one gets to watch tough matches among tough countries rather than a competition with too many teams with wide gaps in ability between them, which leads to one-sided matches. However,if at all an increase has to take place, then Africa deserves one more place. If not through qualifiers in Africa, then through a play-off with another continent, probably Europe or Asia. Adesola Arowogbadamu, Lagos,Nigeria Africa cried for a fifth slot based on its improved standard of play at USA ’94.

McIlroy was part of both World Cup squads and knows only too well how hard it is get to the finals. “Now we are in the bottom pool, the draw in December for the 2006 World Cup in Germany will be very tough. ” Would he like England? “That would do nicely,” he laughs. He has real hope for the future. “The team is young, and every game is a learning experience. Some of our youngsters have gone straight from playing in the Irish league to tackling Real Madrid’s top Spanish players.

The summer is a traditional time for catchy tunes from novelty bands but none will be more novel this summer than “Burqa Blue” by the Burqa Band. The all-girl rock group from Afghanistan are grabbing airtime on German radio and becoming a cult hit in German clubs, courtesy of a remix by Berlin DJ Barbara Morgenstern. The project started off as a joke in Kabul but with the help of German musician Kurt Dahlke and colleagues, in the city to run a workshop on behalf of the Goethe Institute, the female trio – a translator and two tea ladies – recorded the song and made their own video. The song was part of an initiative to restart a music culture which had been destroyed under the Taliban regime.

On http://www.footballjerseysuppliers.com Tuesday night it was as if the home fans weren’t really bothered. I have wondered in the past if the City fans are still admiring the famous names who are now playing at their ground, rather than trying to make it a difficult place to visit. My 10 yr old is an excessive crier. It drives me insane. The child cries over EVERYTHING!!!! His Dad and I can stand it. I don know how to stop it. He doesn in front of friends, outside in the neighborhood. He doesn care where he might be, if he is upset, angry, sad, annoyed, irritate, you name it, he cries!!!Focus is this week and making sure that I’m doing everything I can to prepare, and to try to help my teammates prepare this week to get a win, Kaepernick said. you’re in a situation like this, how you finish the season can help set the foundation for next season. That’s what we have to be able to do this week, go out and get a win, leave on a positive cheap nfl jerseys wholesale note and have something to build on this offseason where we can improve and come into next season ready to roll. While taking nothing away from Brooks, the Rams’ record does, in part, reflect the league’s policy of giving losing teams easier schedules. None of the four wins have been against genuine heavyweights, and a glance at their remaining fixtures Baratas Ray Ban shows that only two cheap nfl jerseys games, against San Francisco and the visit of Miami, look insurmountable obstacles. There are impromptu polls on sites around the Internet (burning has a high ranking). But there’s no consensus among professionals like physicians or funeral directors about which method is the least desirable way to exit this mortal coil. A person’s fears may factor into his own personal worst way to die. The thought of falling to one’s death from a tall cheap jerseys china building, for example, would probably scare the daylights out of someone who is afraid of heights, but wholesale jerseys china wouldn’t qualify as the worst death for someone else. http://www.cheapjerseysselling.com
