The winners of the Oceania qualifying competition will have to play off over two legs against the fifth-placed team from South America to win a place in Germany, FIFA decided on Thursday. Like most pundits in the Oceania confederation, Farina was little surprised by FIFA?s decision. FIFA?s decision raises the possibility of Australia having a re-match with Uruguay, who won their two-legged playoff 3-1 on aggregate for a place in the 2002 World Cup finals in South Korea and Japan. Farina said there was no point dwelling on what is perceived here as another serving of rough justice from world football?s governing body.

After failing to live up to expectations in the last World Cup in Japan and South Korea, Schafer knows the pressure is on because only the winners of the five African groups qualify for the finals. ?We are the biggest team in Africa and we have to show that,? said Schafer. ?Our fans expect us to travel to the World Cup in Germany come 2006. ?We do not want to disappoint them. ? Senegal, the surprise quarter-finalists last year in Asia on their World Cup debut, were drawn against Mali, Zambia, Liberia, Togo and Congo in Group 1. South Korea, who reached the semi-finals of the 2002 World Cup finals that they co-hosted with Japan, will play against Lebanon, Vietnam and the Maldives in Group 7. Europe will contribute 13 of the 32 finalists, plus Germany as host nation. The Asian region provides four automatic qualifiers, Africa five, South America has four automatic places and three teams from North, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF) region qualify automatically.

Ground down GLASSY-EYED nationalists use to sing a lament about the loss of the “fourth green field. ” FAI Chief Executive, Fran Rooney, would by now probably happily settle for any field at all. Football chiefs generally only have to concern themselves with events on the pitch but when one doesn’t even have a stadium to call your own, it’s that bit trickier. So while Brian Kerr’s thoughts turn to the prospects of playing France in the qualifying games for the 2006 World Cup, Fran Rooney is exercised by more mundane matters like will we be playing our “home” matches away? This is some “loyalty card” for the Green Army, officially accredited as being the best fans in the world. Along with the team, they may find themselves becoming the lost tribe of football. Unless the Government rises above its commitment phobia on the provision of some sort of national stadium this is a real possibility. Croke Park, arguably one of the world’s greatest sporting stadia may be hopelessly under utilised, but so far no-one has been able to deliver a formula to open it up… ” FAI Chief Executive, Fran Rooney, would by now probably happily settle for any field at all. The GAA deserve great credit for their showcase arena, but it would reflect even better on them if they could find some compromise on its wider use.

fab melo continues to be a twitter trendSo the first topic that I wish to cover is the primary fundamentals of Aikido, which are “one point”, “keep weight underside”, and we’ll start with those two first. Keeping “one point”, what is keeping “one point”? Keeping “one point” is cheap jerseys wholesale focusing your balance, focusing your intention to a spot that is just below your navel and is very centered and focused in the weight of your body. These people are very focused into the eastern concept of centering and keeping one point and maintaining their constant balance. Now let me expand on that slightly, keeping constant balance in not being able to stabilize yourself one hundred percent of the time because as an animal and as a machine the human being shouldn’t be able to walk properly anyway.
