Scott overtakes top speedsters for weekly honor
USA Today – Feb 22, 2005
Pikus-Pace, the overall World Cup winner, finished second in a thrilling duel at the World Championships. Sandeno took six medals, three gold, at the final World Cup meet of the season. The winner is someone who might be better known for his college football career at Tennessee than his sprinting career. But his weekend performance might prove to be a breakthrough. The field for the 60 meters at the Norwich Union Grand Prix meet in Birmingham, England, included world indoor champion Jason Gardener, world 100-meter champion Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Nevis, Olympic silver medalist Francis Obikwelu of Portugal and world 60-meter record holder Maurice Greene.

Kheri named Kenya coach
BBC News – Feb 23, 2005
“I’ve spoken on phone with the KFF chairman and have told him that I’m okay coaching my country,” Kheri said. “I’ll travel to Nairobi to discuss other things, including my contract. ”

Elly Adero, who is the administrative manager of the Harambee Stars, said preparations for their forthcoming 2006 World Cup qualifier against Botswana must start without delay. "We don’t have a chance of qualifying for the World Cup. We should concentrate on qualifying for the Cup of Nations"

Kenya coach Mohammed Kheri

The coaching trio was picked by a panel of 19 coaches, who shortlisted Kheri, Thigo and James Siang’a for the top job. Siang’a, who has a contract with Morogoro of Tanzania, was unavailable, leaving Kheri as the panel’s choice. Kenya Football Federation chairman Alfred Sambu said they settled for Kheri because of his track record.

The association of club chairmen, a group of former internationals and the country’s union of sports journalists had petitioned a court to investigate allegations relating to the theft of funds. They were earmarked for the prosecution of the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign. But after walking out of a Kinshasa court on Monday, Selemani said the judge dismissed the charges. “I was in court to answer the judge’s invitation and I’ve defended myself over the corruption allegations,” Omari told BBC Sport after the hearing… The association of club chairmen, a group of former internationals and the country’s union of sports journalists had petitioned a court to investigate allegations relating to the theft of funds. They were earmarked for the prosecution of the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign. But after walking out of a Kinshasa court on Monday, Selemani said the judge dismissed the charges. “I was in court to answer the judge’s invitation and I’ve defended myself over the corruption allegations,” Omari told BBC Sport after the hearing. “I’m not in prison, so I’ll let you guess the judge’s decision. ”

Selemani said the stakeholders that brought the petition were motivated by a desire to prevent Fecofa elections scheduled for 28 February in Kisangani.

About Rugby: Goode knocks
Telegraph.co.uk – Feb 23, 2005
“He was very strong-willed and it was always likely that he would go for a career in rugby rather than cricket. The Islanders will play New Zealand and Italy next June before embarking on a November tour of Europe, playing Scotland, Wales and Ireland. After the unexpected success of their debut matches, it was too late to organise any further games for this year, especially with the Lions tour adding pressure to an already crowded fixture list. Millar’s taleThe International Rugby Board chairman, Dr Syd Millar, had to issue a statement of clarification earlier this week after some media outlets were reporting that he had officially endorsed Japan’s World Cup bid for 2011. Millar, accepting an invitation to attend the two Japanese Cup semi-finals, offered the not unreasonable opinion, when asked, that the 80,000 capacity Yokohama Stadium was well capable of staging the Rugby World Cup final… Millar’s taleThe International Rugby Board chairman, Dr Syd Millar, had to issue a statement of clarification earlier this week after some media outlets were reporting that he had officially endorsed Japan’s World Cup bid for 2011. Millar, accepting an invitation to attend the two Japanese Cup semi-finals, offered the not unreasonable opinion, when asked, that the 80,000 capacity Yokohama Stadium was well capable of staging the Rugby World Cup final. As the stadium hosted the 2002 football World Cup final, its suitability goes without saying. This nonetheless caused some consternation in New Zealand and South Africa, who are also bidding for the final, but the IRB are at pains to point out that Millar’s reply was in no way related to the bidding and voting process that will take place over the coming months. The IRB council will then select and announce the winning tender in November. Jersey jerksThere are two Welsh fans out there who ought to read this. You know who you are! Wales team manager Alan Phillips is pleading for the two supporters who stole the Welsh jerseys of Tom Shanklin and Stephen Jones after the win over England nearly three weeks ago to return them to their rightful owners.

BBC SPORT | Football | African | Narrow escape for Tizie
BBC News – Feb 23, 2005
Esperance officials said they are happy with the progress Tizie is making. “He is much better now, especially after the doctors confirmed that
the surgery will not affect his reproductive system,” said club spokesman Ammer El Bahary. However, the Ivorian goalkeeper is not expected to resume training for three weeks, which means he will be unavailable for his country’s 2006 World Cup
qualifier against Benin in March. Etoile are the leaders in the Tunisian championship with 42 points, while Esperance are in fourth place with 37 points.

Fresh blow for Arsenal as Reyes is banned
Telegraph.co.uk – Feb 24, 2005
Dunne was charged in relation to his reaction at the dismissal. He is already set for a four-game ban as it was his second red card of the season. The Football League have confirmed that, for the fourth successive season, the Carling Cup final, between Chelsea and Liverpool on Sunday, will be played under the roof of the Millennium Stadium. Ade Akinbiyi, the Stoke striker, has joined Burnley for £600,000. Goalkeeper Kevin Ellegaard is set to leave Manchester City when his contract expires at the end of the season. Oldham manager Brian Talbot has left Boundary Park by mutual consent. Oldham have lost their last seven matches and assistant manager Tony Philliskirk will take temporary charge… Leeds are to release at least 15 players at the end of the season. Harpal Singh, Jamie McMaster and South African international Lucas Radebe are among the latest cull at Elland Road. Ticket orders for the 2006 World Cup in Germany have passed two million, organisers said. By yesterday, 320,000 applications had been received for a total of 2. Applications received will go into a draw on April 15.

Deisler should go says Beckenbauer
CNN International – Feb 23, 2005
The German football legend believes Deisler needs regular match practice to complete his recovery from injury and depression and should leave the Bavarian giants. "It makes no sense for him to be there if he’s just playing every now and then," he said. Beckenbauer combines his role as president of the 2006 World Cup organising committee with the post of chairman of the Bavarian club’s advisory board. "If he’s playing so little, it would be better for him to go elsewhere to get more match practice. "Deisler, now 25, was hailed as the next great German playmaker when he signed for Bayern from Hertha Berlin in 2002 but his first season was dogged by injuries and he missed five months of the following campaign as he fought depression… The German football legend believes Deisler needs regular match practice to complete his recovery from injury and depression and should leave the Bavarian giants. He made a good start to the current season but was then readmitted to a psychiatric clinic for further treatment in October. He returned to training soon afterwards but coach Felix Magath has only rarely risked playing him as Bayern have struggled to stay top of the Bundesliga under pressure from Schalke 04.

Referees ready to trial goal ‘bleeper’
go.com – Feb 24, 2005
‘The presentation to the IFAB by adidas will need to persuade FIFA president Sepp Blatter especially, as he has always resisted bringing technology into the game. What may change his mind in this case is that it will not involve video replays but a link direct to the referee. Adidas have been cagey about the latest development but the IFAB agenda says: ‘There will be a presentation by adidas on a new technical and design concept of ball type, with a sample of the official match ball of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Adidas believe that the new ball is a revolution in optimising the referee decision and not comparable with any other existing system. ‘Another revolutionary proposal, this time by the Welsh FA, to make the offside rule only apply in penalty areas, appears doomed to failure. It may not even make the final agenda after tomorrow’s preliminary meeting. One Welsh FA proposal that does have a chance of success is a change to the rule regarding an automatic red card when the ‘last man’ denies an opponent an obvious goalscoring chance.

South African-born Stevens, on the other hand, is a 22-year-old with a couple of caps as a replacement against New Zealand, who has been viewed mainly by England as a loose-head, on the other side of the scrum. More than that he is not even the first choice at his club, Bath. That honour goes to Duncan Bell, 30, who has been called into the England squad and will sit on the bench. England boss Andy Robinson hopes Stevens will become a long-term member of the squad and provide some much-needed continuity.

BBC News – Feb 23, 2005
Everything seemed to go well and I knew I had to enjoy every minute. I wasn’t too emotional after the game because I knew I would probably play at Murrayfield again in the World Cup warm-up games. But when I finished at the end of the World Cup, myself and Bryan Redpath, who was also retiring, were pretty emotional and there were a few tears. When you spend 11 years playing for your country and you realise it is the last time, it does get to you a bit. It would have been worse if I had been dropped and never had a chance to say goodbye to the supporters.

BBC News – Feb 24, 2005
“Conditions are getting a lot better,” said tournament director Mark Russell. “If it doesn’t rain, which it’s not supposed to, we’ll start playing tomorrow. It would have been impossible to start on Wednesday. ”

But Australia’s Stuart Appleby reckoned there was only a 25% chance of the course being playable on Thursday.

DAVIS: A lot of the things that I do now stem from a lack of things that I had growing up. So I didn’t really have anyone to show me at that early age, you know, how to be a leader, how to go about doing things as a young man, so that’s one of http://www.foakleysaaaa.com the reasons why we wanted to start this program.Getting Burfict back he averaged almost eight tackles per game the past two seasons would bolster a defense that was ragged against the Broncos cheap nfl jerseys cheap oakleys last week. And worse yet, at least as Lewis sees it, undisciplined. Cincinnati forfeited five first downs to the Broncos http://www.cheapnfljerseysshop.com on defensive penalties.Acupressure does not require any special tools, just your fingers and the knowledge of where to press. The pressure should be enough to cause some mild discomfort but should not cause pain. Acupressure Online instructs that the points can be stimulated in any order and there is no limit on how many times the points are stimulated. The treatment can be continued until the symptoms resolve. He’ll be ready for this: Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels have plenty of time to prepare and tweak as necessary. And as frustrating and unjust as it has been to watch Brady get railroaded by the slimy reptiles who run the league, it will be wholesale jerseys china fascinating to discover http://www.foakleysaaaa.com what Garoppolo can do. Many of his apparent tools and attributes especially when it comes to out of the pocket mobility are dissimilar to Brady’s. That in itself will make the Patriots’ offense appear not quite as familiar as it has for, oh, the last four or so years, since Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman emerged as Brady’s primary playmakers. Some firms have gone even further and put the algos in charge. At Rebellion Research, computers and humans have actually switched roles. The program (named “Star”) is the boss, analyzing over a decade of stock market data and coming up with a long term strategy, giving humans a list of buy/sell instructions every morning. The humans then make Cheap china Jerseys the trades at the computer’s command, and are not allowed to modify them in any way.In the second AFC wildcard match up, the “new” Cleveland Browns travel to Pittsburgh to tackle the Steelers. The “old” Browns are now playing their games in Baltimore as the Ravens, but the new version will be keen to maintain the Browns’ tradition with strong defence and a grinding running offence. That’s a place to start. Now, think calm, alert, accomplished, laughter, focus. It’d be nice to feel that way, wouldn’t it? I sure think so. So the thing is there’s tons of studies on food and brains and football players and lots of amazing stuff. We don’t need to get into the details, because, if you have a concussion it’s likely too much information.
