Irish soccer | Candystripes ready to attack | eircom League Premier… – Nov 4, 2005
With a three-goal inferior goal difference, the Brandywell side could have to eclipse Cork in goals scored over the final three weekends in order to lift the league crown ? but Kenny claims that goals are always his side?s objective. He said: ?Attack is always our philosophy anyway. We have a lot of attacking players in the team and we?re not really set up for containing and killing the game off ? it?s not really our style. ?We?ve scored over 50 league goals and pushing near 70 between all competitions, so we?ve always been set up for having a go. Once we score, our philosophy is to try to get a second.

Scottish FA lash out over calls for Taylor’s head – Nov 10, 2005
“His is a hard job. Once a team loses as we did on Saturday we’re under pressure, but we all have the belief that this is a good team and will do well in the future. “David Taylor is not culpable. The press and everybody are culpable. I find it strange that one man is blamed. The players, the manager, are at fault and the press don’t help… You have to be calm and work through it and we have to start with this game in Slovenia and look forward. The Scots are on the boundary of seeding bands four and five for the draw, with Slovenia ranked just ahead of them, so this match matters despite neither side having further interest in the World Cup.

Time is ripe for GAA to make serious money
Sunday Times – The Sunday Times – Nov 6, 2005
Uefa recently announced that they have already signed up all their sponsors for Euro 2008. They further claim to have increased the revenue they secured from Euro 2004 by 31%. It took Uefa 15 months to complete all their sponsorship deals for Euro 2004 while it took them just four months to secure all deals for the 2008 tournament. The trends show how sponsorship is gradually replacing advertising as a more effective medium. That environment will allow the GAA to increase the prices they charge for existing sponsorship rights… That figure is a massive jump from the estimated current total of Aus$50m (€31m). There has never been as much potential for money spin-offs from Gaelic games and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by the players, especially when they look at other models in the sporting world. Although it is not wholly comparable, the Professional Footballers’ Association in England secured £17. 5m last year from TV rights. Although the GAA pump everything back into the system, the current climate is breeding frustration as an obvious growing influx of revenue comes into the market. The GAA has reacted angrily to guerrilla marketing in the past few years but that trend is likely to increase and players will find it harder to refuse personal deals. Although most county teams have generous sponsors, players know plenty more money is out there.

The Birmingham City midfielder has had a one-match suspension added to his automatic one-match ban after being sent-off against Austria last month. Goalkeeping coach Dave Beasant has been handed a six-match touchline ban, which covers only competitive matches. In addition, Johnson was fined ?2,200, Beasant ?4,400 and the Irish FA ?2,400 for indiscipline during the game. As well as Johnson’s dismissal, Lawrie Sanchez’s side had five players booked, Chris Baird, Keith Gillespie, Steve Davis, Chris Brunt and James Quinn.

Crumpled hats in the FAI’s ring

Before taking over the Netherlands, Van Basten observed coaching methods in various countries and worked for two years with the Ajax youths and reserves. In one of the most sophisticated environments in the sporting world, that was the football equivalent of doing a PhD in the subject. Not to mention Van Basten is working with some of the best raw material available to any international manager. Before leading Germany to the World Cup finals in 2002, Völler was no greenhorn either. He’d been general manager of Bayer Leverkusen. By contrast, Staunton began combining coaching with his playing duties at Walsall only this past summer. Apart from occasionally assisting Mark Kinsella with the reserves, his main brief is to work with the defenders… This is utter balderdash. The sooner somebody can set about the task of refurbishing the current depleted squad the better. Belgium parted company with Aimé Anthuenis last week and Michel Preud’homme, their FA’s technical director, immediately guaranteed the new manager would be in place by the time of the Euro 2008 draw on January 27. Even though Preud’homme’s search for a successor is complicated by having to balance the Flemish and Walloon factions in his country, he figured three months was easily enough time to get the job done. Unless of course the kingmakers enjoy the limelight and the thrill of the chase a little too much. – Nov 7, 2005
Eleven UEFA Cup qualifiers”Eleven sides, instead of three [as previously], will qualify for the UEFA Cup,” said UEFA communications and public affairs director William Gaillard when the format change was announced. “We will also endeavour to have one participant from the member associations. If this is not the case because of vacancies, or countries not entering teams into the competition, then we will establish criteria to designate clubs from other associations to enter the competition. FIFA WORLD CUP: Belgium awaits coach decision – Oct 28, 2005
Last straw
Following his team’s absence from UEFA EURO 2004? in Portugal, the failure to reach next summer’s showpiece in Germany proved to be the final straw for Aim? Anthuenis. “A coach who fails to qualify for two major tournaments should not stay on,” was his reaction to the decisive defeat by Spain on 8 October. Early departure
Anthuenis’s contract was due to expire after the World Cup finals, but he has agreed with the Belgian Football Association that he will stand down on 31 December. Now the chairman of the FA technical committee, Michel Preud’homme, must work on finding a suitable successor. Divided nation
However, perhaps unsurprisingly in a country divided into Dutch-speaking Flanders and French-speaking Wallonia, achieving a consensus on a single ideal candidate will be a tough task for the former international goalkeeper and R. Standard de Li?ge technical director… Final decision
Preud’homme has some thinking to do. “By early January at the latest we will have a new boss for the Red Devils,” he promised. “The draw for UEFA EURO 2008? is on 27 January, and I want the coach to be in attendance. ” All Belgians will be hoping the new man can also make it to the finals in Austria and Switzerland. notas_de_prensa_archivo.

However, Michalis Konstantinou ensured maximum points for Olympiacos eleven minutes later when he reacted quickest following Pavol Kovac’s save from Predrag Djordjević’s shot. “It’s important to bounce back after the defeats,” said Olympiacos coach Trond Sollied. “It was not easy to perform well. We had many chances in the first half, but scored only one goal. My players got nervous after the equaliser, but we got the win and that’s more important than anything. ”

It proves we did not win the title by accident and it says a lot about our strength. We deserve this success. ”
Tobol miss outTobol were the only team who could have spoiled Aktobe’s day but while they kept their side of the bargain by beating second-from-bottom FC Zhetysu Taldykorgan 4-1 with two goals from Uklugbek Bakayev and one each from Maxim Nizovtsev and Konstanin Kotov, Aktobe’s triumph meant their efforts were in vain. I built one this weekend using my old Igloo cube. The major difference on mine was i added a pvc on the front to keep it level. Keeping the pvc tube axel casing snug against the cooler wall was my priority and doing so made the cooler lean forward. My other small tweak was to keep the axel shorter so the wheels are the widest element. Overall my biggest ah ha was to drill a pilot hole from the inside of the cooler out for the pvc pipe, then drill in with the 1 drill bit.Whether you’re going to a game, a camping trip, or, in Kelsey’s case, the roof of a building . you need a handful of essential techniques and tips to make your On the Go Grilling flawless.
