Not much of a break for international soccer
Independent Online – Aug 14, 2006
France great Zinedine Zidane, sent off for head-butting Marco Materazzi in the World Cup final, has retired and David Beckham, his former Real Madrid team-mate, has been dropped by England. There is no Wayne Rooney, either. Suspended for England’s first two Euro 2008 qualifying group games against Andorra and Macedonia because of his red card against Portugal at the World Cup, the Manchester United striker has not been considered for the friendly against the Greeks. McClaren is set to field a new-look strikeforce with West Ham’s Dean Ashton likely to make his debut. Italy’s new coach, Roberto Donadoni, has given almost the entire World Cup squad a break. Of the 23 in Germany, only No 3 goalkeeper Marco Amelia will face Croatia in Livorno on Wednesday. Ronaldo, Kaka and Ronaldinho were left off Brazil’s squad to face the Norwegians in Oslo but could be recalled when the team go on to play friendlies against Argentina and Wales in London early in September… France great Zinedine Zidane, sent off for head-butting Marco Materazzi in the World Cup final, has retired and David Beckham, his former Real Madrid team-mate, has been dropped by England. Lennon may be leading light as McClaren looks to the wings

Who knows when that will be?” Talking of other ebullient characters, McClaren hailed his new No 2, Terry Venables, as having a “tactical nous at this level that is second to none”. McClaren added: “There is no better football brain around than Terry. “England’s new head coach also indicated that he wanted the team to develop a familiarity with “two or three” styles in advance of Euro 2008, so that the players would not suddenly have to undergo a crash course in a new formation as occurred when his predecessor, Sven-Goran Eriksson, switched to a holding-role system in Germany. “I want to win matches and sometimes you have to use different methods,” McClaren said. “That’s what I want to develop in the team. Hopefully we will qualify for 2008 and I’m planning for the next two years. We need to make sure that when we do qualify we’ve got two or three systems in place that are flexible and different and can offer us different things to win games, and that we’re able to do that.

Germany’s World Cup stars honoured
Independent Online – Aug 14, 2006
“The team spirit and style of football gripped the entire nation. In two years he created something that no-one thought was possible. ”

Klinsmann, who stepped down as Germany manager after the finals to return to his family in the United States, did not attend the ceremony. Germany captain Michael Ballack was also absent after injuring his hip in Chelsea’s 2-1 Community Shield defeat to Liverpool on Sunday. Goalkeeper Oliver Kahn, who retired after the finals, injured Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sebastian Kehl and Chelsea’s Robert Huth were the other absentees… Goalkeeper Oliver Kahn, who retired after the finals, injured Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sebastian Kehl and Chelsea’s Robert Huth were the other absentees. Germany face Sweden in a friendly match on Wednesday as they prepare for Euro 2008 under new coach Joachim Low who was Klinsmann’s assistant at the World Cup. Low’s first competitive match is the Euro 2008 qualifier against Ireland in Stuttgart on September 2.

Lehmann plans to quit after Euro 2008
Ireland Online – Aug 14, 2006
“Afterwards I think that will be it, both with the national team and as a professional footballer. ”Lehmann still has a year to run on his contract with the Gunners, but has hinted this could be his last season in London. “We will have to see how the season goes, whether I extend with Arsenal or not,” he said. “I would still like to play another season in Germany.

Harte latest to withdraw from Holland game
Irish Times – Aug 14, 2006
Captain Robbie Keane and Richard Dunne – both ruled out over the weekend – have had scans on their respective thigh and hamstring injuries. Keane will be sidelined for some 10 days meaning there is little or no chance of him featuring in Tottenham’s opening Premiership match away to Bolton on Saturday. Crucially, though, it means Keane does have every chance of proving his fitness ahead of the Republic’s all-important opening Euro 2008 qualifier with Germany in Stuttgart on September 2nd. Dunne, though, may  not be as fortunate.   The defender has progressed dramatically in recent seasons and has cemented his position in the Irish side. However, Staunton fears he is facing a longer spell out than Keane which could well see him short of vital match practice ahead of that trip to Germany. Staunton, meanwhile, has not called in a replacement for Harte and, indeed, indicated no further additions will be made to his squad.

McManus invited to Scotland camp
BBC News – Aug 14, 2006
McManus was named in the travelling party for May’s Kirin Cup trip to Japan but was forced to withdraw by his club. However, Jackie McNamara and Barry Ferguson did not travel to Fife, while Steven Caldwell and David Weir have arrived with slight injuries. Manager Walter Smith has preferred the two-day gathering on 14 and 15 August to arranging a friendly. Smith said: “You can only bring so many players for each position and the defenders who did well in Japan deserved to have their names on the list first. “That is why Stephen was not involved in the first place, it is as simple as that. “Since we announced the original squad, Steven Caldwell and David Weir picked up injuries, while there were doubts about Jackie McNamara… “The country’s in a hole in football terms. We’ve not been to a major competition for a number of years now but all the players certainly believe in their own ability and when you’ve got confidence you can achieve anything. ”

Smith will travel to see the Faroe Islands take on Georgia in the Euro 2008 group’s opening qualifying tie after the gathering. Scotland begin their campaign at home to the Faroe Islands on 2 September. Scotland squad

The home fans will have three of their favorites to watch. As well as Amelia, striker Cristiano Lucarelli, who narrowly missed out on a place at the World Cup, and midfielder Stefano Morrone are also named in the squad. Ferguson wants Ferdinand and Neville to take on Greece
Telegraph.co.uk – Aug 14, 2006
Wayne Rooney, another absentee as a result of a groin injury, will not link up with McClaren’s squad in Manchester today after being omitted from the former Middlesbrough manager’s first international squad due to the two-match suspension that rules him out of the forthcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers against Andorra and Macedonia next month. Rooney’s injury is such that he has emerged as a major doubt for the Premiership opener against Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday, but Neville and Ferdinand are both progressing well after their respective calf and ankle injuries and Ferguson is keen for McClaren, his former United assistant, to hand the pair much- needed match time in an effort to increase their chances of facing Chris Coleman’s team at the weekend. That hasn’t happened, but the situation is clearing a little bit and the England game is handy for Rio and Gary in particular… Wayne Rooney, another absentee as a result of a groin injury, will not link up with McClaren’s squad in Manchester today after being omitted from the former Middlesbrough manager’s first international squad due to the two-match suspension that rules him out of the forthcoming Euro 2008 qualifiers against Andorra and Macedonia next month. Barcelona duo miss Spain friendly
CNN International – Aug 14, 2006
If Xavi had traveled he would have missed three days of his recovery program. "The pair are also doubtful for Barcelona’s opening fixture of the season against Espanyol in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Thursday. Spain coach Luis Aragones has not called up any replacements for the match in Reykjavik. Xavi’s absence means that Celta Vigo midfielder Borja Oubina is likely to get a chance to make his debut after being drafted into the squad for the first time. The Iceland match will be Spain’s first game since their exit from the World Cup, at the hands of France during the first knockout round. Spain will also meet Iceland in Euro 2008 qualifiers in March and September of next year. Once he gets the right coaching, and he has a good player in Duffer to learn from, he could be unbelievable. His pace is absolutely frightening. ‘

Considering that Pokemon takes place in a fictional universe, it’s clear he’s not referring to a war from our history. In fact, his specific mention of using Pokemon in war probably as tools of war kind of adds another creepy aspect to these young children training to fight each other with Pokemon. Are they training for another war? Is the war still going on? Have we been playing child soldier training simulators all these years? One way to achieve this protection is through the formation of corporations to hold the NFL Jerseys China assets. Why corporations? Under the law, a corporation is an artificial “person” completely separate from the people who own it and control it. This is different from an individual or sole proprietorship. With an individual or sole proprietorship the owner bears full and complete responsibility for his actions. But a corporation is an independent entity. A corporation’s liabilities and taxes are separate from those of its owners, officers, and directors. Therefore a corporation gives you the greatest personal liability protection and this meets our first criteria we talked about.
