BBC News – Sep 29, 2006
The 65-year-old, who was the senior vice-president of the German organizing committee for the 2006 World Cup, will work as the coordinator for the 2010 tournament. Schmidt will spend seven days per month overseeing the day-to-day management of preparations for the event. “The recruitment of Schmidt as a consultant will have many benefits for us,” said Fifa general secretary Urs Linsi. “There can be very few people around the world with such vast experience in terms of event organisation, security matters and ticketing. ”

After gaining his first taste of organising a World Cup in 1974 in his homeland, Schmidt spent many years as a Fifa expert in the areas of security and ticketing before playing a major role in his country’s recent hosting of the event.

Adamu urges SA to seek help
BBC News – Sep 27, 2006

Adamu, who recently caused a stir by calling for a radical change in Fifa’s attitude towards government involvement in football affairs, insists that involving other nations is South Africa’s best option. “It’s very important for the South Africans to reach out to the rest of the continent, like the Germans did for their World Cup,” said Adamu, who also sits on the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football. He told BBC Sport on Wednesday: “Germans got a lot of help from Uefa [Europe’s governing body] due to the fact that the 2006 World Cup was in Europe. “We believe that 2010 is not just a South Africa thing but an African project, so if it looks bad, then we all look bad. “Despite our problems, I believe Africa as a whole has great personnel,” said the chairman of the organising committee of the 2003 All Africa Games held in the Nigerian capital, Abuja. “We’re not saying that South Africa cannot do it alone but together we can make it that much better.

Adelaide ponders big venue for Romario
The Age – Sep 29, 2006
As part of the deal, Miami FC will play two matches in Adelaide in October, one against United, as part of an Australian tour that will allow Romario to acclimatise to conditions down under. Speaking via video-link during his signing of the guest contract in Brazil, Romario said he was happy to return to Australia and promised a dedicated approach to his one-month stint. “Australian football has been growing tremendously, especially after this last World Cup and the success of their national team,” he said. “You can definitely expect a lot of dedication, I will do my best to help Adelaide United get into the play-offs and win the whole thing at the end. “The Reds have stressed the importance of ensuring Romario was fit to play at A-League level before signing him, and Adelaide United coach John Kosmina said he was satisfied the ageing legend would be up to it. “He’s playing, the US league is not a Mickey Mouse competition, he played and scored for Brazil less than 12 months ago,” he said. “He’s got an art you can’t coach, you’re born with it, and that sort of skill and grace he’s got doesn’t dissipate with time if you’re still practising.

Soccer: Blatter against shootout in final
International Herald Tribune – Sep 27, 2006
"When it comes to the World Cup final it is passion, and when it goes to extra time it is a drama," he said in aspeech. "But when it comes to penalty kicks it is a tragedy. "Football is a team sport and penalties is not a team, it is the individual. "West Germany won the first penalty shootout in World Cup, beating France in the 1982 semifinal. Blatter also took a swipe at the high salaries paid to football players and said FIFA would take on the issue as clubs, particularly in England but also in other European leagues, price spectators out of stadiums to pay huge salaries. "It is not moral, it is definitely not good for our sport," he said. "They pay too much money to the players.

Terry to battle on for England
Telegraph.co.uk – Sep 27, 2006
He’s a tough character. I know that with the experience I’ve got and it’s up to us to find players to replace them and give them the opportunity. “That’s what I’ve certainly been doing over the last few weeks and what I will be doing this week. “Newcastle are close to clinching a deal to take former Rangers goalkeeper Ronald Waterreus to St James’ Park. Manager Glenn Roeder is hoping to sign the Dutchman, 36, on a short-term contract as cover for Steve Harper while Shay Given recovers from abdominal surgery… Meanwhile, striker Michael Owen believes American surgeon Richard Steadman has prolonged his career. The England striker was back at St James’ Park for the club’s annual photo-shoot but could only hobble onto the pitch on crutches after undergoing surgery to repair his ruptured anterior cruciate ligament three weeks ago. That procedure was Owen’s second of the summer after Dr Steadman first repaired his damaged cartilage following the injury he sustained in England’s World Cup finals clash with Sweden in June. However, he is confident the specialist’s decision to operate twice will bear fruit in the long run. Owen said: “We knew as soon as I got to America the first time that it was going to be a two-stage operation. “Now I have got over that initial disappointment, I know it is for the best. I know it will probably prolong my career, him doing that.

Scott Parker was recalled to the team as a replacement for Hargreaves after scoring twice this season for Newcastle. Beckham was dropped last month when McClaren named his first team after taking over from Sven-Goran Eriksson. Central defender Ledley King returned from injury to replace his Tottenham teammate Michael Dawson.

how to create an operating budgetYou don’t need to move your head off to the side. You just want to push into your hand. Of course, do it again on the other side so that you can be symmetrical. The next thing that you’re going to do is wanting to strengthen your rotations. So, you want you first are going to do is place your hand on the side of your cheek and twist your head into your hand. Let us emphasize that it doesn’t actually run away. It is so profoundly lazy that it is already conserving http://www.fakeoakleysaler.com energy for all of the floating it will be doing later. That’s like evading a knife wielding maniac by doing one of those “walking down fake stairs” tricks before curling up and taking a nap behind the couch.I continue to believe the biotech sector will meander within in Cheap Jerseys this range until after the election. If the November outcome results in a divided government as I expect at the current moment, I think both the pharma biotech sectors should benefit. Politically driven ranting around drug prices will die as fast as Detroit Lions’ fans Superbowl hopes do early every NFL season and no major legislative changes will be able to be passed that could significantly impact the industries.7. Fair dinkum, Port Adelaide’s 2009 clash jumper looked like the end result of a kindergartener taking a bunch of crayons to a blank canvas. Then again, a child did come up with the Power’s fantastic current jumper design so maybe they shouldn’t be criticised too harshly if they did in fact enlist the services of a minor for this horrific guernsey.Like “Pieter,” a regular guy who was raised in 1980s South Africa by members of the Afrikaner Resistance Movement (AWB), cheap oakleys sunglasses white supremacists who thought apartheid was far too generous to black citizens. We asked him what it’s like to wake up one day and realize you’re the villain in somebody else’s action movie, and he said .Over 10 years ago I bought a couple of trial items from them and they were solid on their refund offer so I would always consider them in the future. I have only 2 questions I’d raise with them: 1) If even one of their ideas was half wholesale Jerseys as good as they say it is why are they still sending out offers from Yorkshire and not on one of those Caribbean boats they inspire us with? 2)The ‘bumf’ they send out as a ‘hook’ is usually 20 pages long. It is amongst the most repetitive stuff I’ve ever read cheap football jerseys just constant reminders of “how I earned 1m / drive a Bentley / imagine lying on a beach / in your yacht etc.” This drones on repetitively for about 10 pages and then you read this (a direct quote) “”of course I can’t say too much about the contents as I just don’t have the room in this letter, but it is suffice to say that it’s exactly.” and then they go on to repeat the previous 10 pages of “imagine your Bentley / yacht / Rolex etc.” The one thing that puts me off is that this marketing insults the intelligence of average intellects: Perhaps if they gave more of an inkling as to what the latest road to riches scheme was, rather than getting us to imagine the high life, then we could make more of an informed decision. That Cheap mlb Jerseys said they Authentic Jerseys Wholesale will, in my experience, refund you within their stated timeframe.
