Government approves Euro 2012 bill
The government has adopted a draft statute regulating the organisation of Euro 2012. The bill, which is intended to facilitate tournament-related investments, will come before the Sejm in September.
The aim of the new legislation is to foster the right conditions for Poland’s preparations for the finals of the Euro 2012 Football Championships, which the country is jointly hosting. The government’s main concern when drafting the bill was to shorten to a minimum the mandatory administrative procedures for investments as well as simplify red tape for construction projects. The statute also specifies which entities will be authorised to carry out projects and outlines the procedures for providing state guarantees.
